Olive View-UCLA Medical Center
Intern (June 2017 - August 2017)
Supervisor: Dr. Davin Agustines
- Conducted searches across several medical and academic databases to examine previous research that had been conducted regarding the relationship between albinism and schizophrenia, which led to a case report publication
- Made daily rounds at Olive View-UCLA’s inpatient psychiatric ward and observed and interacted with the ward patients, taking notes on the patients’ daily condition
- Conducted patient interviews with family members of patients to determine patient and family medical history
Alicia Tsai Photography

- Provide professional services for a variety of events and occasions (headshots, galas, graduation, family photos, weddings, sports events, etc)
- Planned and hosted a photography exhibition to raise funds for a mental health center in Taiwan
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Claremont Autism Center
Research Assistant (January 2018 - June 2019)
Supervisor: Dr. Marjorie Charlop
- Assisted in weekly one-on-one therapy for low-functioning children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and worked as a trainer with children individually and in groups
- Led social skills groups for children ages 4-16
- Implemented interventions for multiple studies, from baseline to post-treatment data
- Designed and executed a study where eight children with ASD at the center successfully learned how to take pictures as a beneficial leisure skill
Umanath Memory & Aging Laboratory
Research Assistant (August 2017 - May 2019)
Supervisor: Dr. Sharda Umanath
- Investigated topics such as autobiographical memory, collective memory, cognitive aging, and the detection & correction of errors
- Collected participant data & coded data for multiple studies
- Created and directed a research assistant training video for future UMA lab research assistants
- Worked on a manuscript that is in preparation for submission (Prior learning protects against the acquisition of misinformation from popular history films)
National Taiwan University
Research Assistant (June 2016 - May 2019)
Supervisor: Dr. Jiun-Hau Huang
- Designed and distributed a survey to assess the binge drinking intentions of Taiwanese college students and American college students studying in Taiwan as well as factors that may influence binge drinking intention
- Collected and analyzed survey data using SPSS and created tables displaying the results of data analysis
- Study writeup currently in progress

Founder & President (September 2016 - May 2019)
- Provided pro bono photography at events for local nonprofits such as Shoes that Fit, Inland Valley Hope Partners, and Claremont After School Programs
- Partnered with Tricity Mental Health Center to lead support groups on how to incorporate photography and positive mental health
- Hosted workshops on basic and advanced photography concepts to students at the Claremont colleges and led photography field trips to local areas such as Mount Baldy
